Beulah Land

Scenes from Beulah Land

My grandfather passed away suddenly in 2017. My Grandmother was left behind to take care of their sprawling land in central North Carolina and eventually sell it - leaving the house they built together some 30 years ago. The experience of filming this reality slowly and forcefully gaining hold of her as she packed up her home, made my grandfathers ghost even more present to her. My Grandmother was willing to allow me to film this process with her and talked to me about all of her doubts about faith, her wishes to die, distractions, and to more importantly show what effect grief has on the body itself. What resulted is a portrait of grief over the course of four years.
